Dancing dog CapCut template vs AI from one photo
A CapCut template is a ready-made edit you drop your clips into. It is free and quick, but most dancing dog templates do not make your dog dance. They reuse a dog that is already dancing. Here is the difference, so you pick the right tool.

What a dancing dog CapCut template is
CapCut is the video editor made by ByteDance, the company behind TikTok. Its template library lets anyone publish an edit (cuts, timing, text, sound) that others reuse by swapping in their own photos or clips. When you tap "Use template" under a TikTok, you get that exact edit with your media inside.
Dancing dog templates come in two kinds:
- Green-screen meme templates. A clip of one specific dog already dancing, cut out on a green background. You change the background or the caption, but the dog stays the same dog.
- Photo slideshow templates. Your dog's photos zoom, shake and flash to the beat. It looks lively, but the dog itself does not move.
Where the famous templates came from
Two well-known examples show how this works. In January 2024 the Shiba Inu "head bob" spread as a green-screen template. Know Your Meme records that it had been used over 340,000 times by 29 January 2024. In every one of those videos it is the same Shiba, Winnie, bobbing her head.
In November 2025 a TikTok of a golden retriever dancing with a human body (the "I Left My Home" cadence dance) went viral. The day after, a creator shared it as a green-screen CapCut template, and people placed that same dancing retriever into kitchens, classrooms and parties. Know Your Meme notes the original was made with an AI tool that maps a dog onto a filmed human dancer.

When a CapCut template is the right pick
- You want to join a specific meme, with that exact dog and that exact sound.
- You want a free photo montage of your dog for a birthday or a "gotcha day".
- You already have a video of your dog moving and just want a beat-synced edit.
When AI from one photo is the better pick
- You want your own dog, with its own fur, markings and face, standing up and dancing.
- You only have a still photo, or your dog will not sit still for filming.
- You want a style the templates do not have, like ballet on a theatre stage or salsa in a Latin club.
Use both
The two are not rivals. Make the dance here, download the MP4, then open it in CapCut or TikTok to add text, a trending sound or a "before" shot of your real dog asleep on the sofa. Our videos are 9:16 and 10 seconds long, so they drop straight into any vertical template slot.
To get a result that really looks like your dog, start with a sharp, full-body photo. See our photo tips and the step-by-step guide, or go straight to the upload box.

Is there a CapCut template that makes my own dog dance?
Most dancing dog templates either reuse a dog that is already dancing (green-screen memes) or animate your photos as a slideshow. To make your own dog dance from a still photo you need an image-to-video AI tool, like the one on our home page.
Are CapCut templates free?
Templates are free to use in the CapCut app. Some effects and exports may need CapCut's paid plan, so check inside the app.
Can I put my AI dancing dog video into a CapCut template?
Yes. Download the MP4 and add it to any template that accepts a video clip. It is already 9:16.
Which dancing dog meme templates are the most famous?
The Shiba Inu head bob from January 2024 and the AI golden retriever dance from November 2025 are two of the best known. See our dancing dog meme history.
Is the golden retriever in the template real?
No. Know Your Meme describes it as a golden retriever mapped onto a human dancer with an AI tool.
